As we make our way through our 60th year at Ziems Ford Corners, we reflect on the charitable events that we’ve participated in over the years. Notably, the Toys For Tots, an event we host every year and the Guardians of Good campaign where we give away a free vehicle to a deserving community member. This year we are adding to our support by sponsoring two upcoming Farmington Events. The 57th Annual San Juan Open Charity Golf Tournament, and the 40th Annual Road Apple Rally both of which are long-standing fixtures in the community. We hope you come out to show your support.

The San Juan Open

Entering into its 57th season, the San Juan Open Charity Golf Tournament is the largest tournament to take place in the Four Corners. Tournament week is August 30-September 5, 2021 with tournament play taking place September 2-5. A time-honored Farmington tradition, the tournament has taken place annually since 1965. Each year Farmington welcomes both professional and amateur golfers from around the country for a week of competition. All proceeds from the event go to a local charity. In the last six years alone, over $130,000 has been donated to the community.

The Road Apple Rally

Initially born as a competition between horses and bikes, the Rally got its name from early riders dodging “road apples” left behind by the horses. Today, the Road Apple Rally is bike only. Changes aside, the race has been a part of the southwest landscape since 1981 making it America’s longest continuously running mountain bike race. The early October season in the Four Corners region is well known for its clear skies and mild fall temperatures, making it an ideal getaway for avid cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The 2021 event is scheduled to take place the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd and will feature two days of competitive and recreational bike races. Also included in the festivities will be live music, food and an interactive sponsor village with entertainment and activities for everyone. This single-track course includes 5, 15, and 30-mile loops in the Glade Run Recreation Area and is a fun and fast race for mountain bikers of all levels. Registration is open now:

  • Registration for the Road Apple Rally is $45.00 before Wednesday, September 29, 2021.
  • Late Registration will begin on Thursday, September 29, 2021, until 5:00 p.m. in-person only at the Farmington Recreation Center, 1101 Fairgrounds Rd., Farmington, NM. A $15.00 late fee will be added.
  • Mail-in registration must be received by Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Mail entries to Road Apple Rally, 901 Fairgrounds Rd., Farmington, NM 87401. No faxed or scanned entries will be accepted.
