They say you never know where lightning will strike. But that’s not entirely true. At Ziems Ford Corners, we know that Lightning plans to strike on Wednesday, May 19, at 9:30 p.m. Ford Motor Company has announced the reveal of the first-ever all-electric Ford F-150, dubbed Lightning. The reveal will take place via a Livestream from Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan headquarters scheduled for 9:30 a.m. EDT. Farmington viewers can catch the reveal on Ford’s social media platforms, including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. Every so often, a new vehicle comes along that disrupts the status quo, here’s what we know about the coming storm:
The Power of Lightning
America’s favorite truck 44 years running is ready to “turn the legendary revolutionary” and introduce you to its fully electric brethren. The F-150 Lightning is slated to be the most powerful F-150 ever built. Early reports show that the all-new F-150 Lightning will feature a dual-motor powertrain and all-wheel drive. Along with being the most powerful, it should also be the quickest member of the F-150 family. Especially given that electric vehicles offer high torque out-puts and respond instantly to driver inputs. Ford President and CEO Jim Farley described it by saying, “The Lightning can power your home during an outage and will constantly improve through over-the-air updates.”
What’s in a Name?
Aside from being a near-perfect moniker for an all-electric vehicle, Lightning is an important name in the Ford history books. In the early 1990s and 2000s, the nameplate was applied to a series of high-performance street trucks. These trucks housed some of the most powerful engines of their day. The last generation of the nameplate held a supercharged 5.4-liter unit that boasted 380 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. In their time, these trucks offered serious performance with the style chops to match. We envision that the nameplate could be revived for nothing less than gale force strength.
Creating a Storm
It’s not easy turning electricity into lightning, but the Michigan-based Ford Rouge EV Complex is up to the challenge. This plant is set to be “the cathedral of American manufacturing and Ford’s most advanced plant” according to Farley. The Lightening’s body and paintwork will be completed at the Ford Dearborn Truck Plant. The F-150 Lightning is scheduled to enter production in mid-2022 for the 2023 model year.
If you can’t wait to see how the all-new Ford F-150 Lightning lives up to its heritage, neither can we. All of us at Ziems will be tuned in to see the reveal. Visit our showroom to find out how and when you can get your hands on Lightening. The Ford F-150 Lightning that is!
It’s that time again. Every year in March, Ford launches the American tradition: Ford Truck Month. It’s a tradition that’s nearly 100 years old. For the last 60 years, Ziems Ford Corners has been proudly celebrating Ford Truck Month.
In 1917, the first purpose-built Ford truck rolled off the assembly line. The Ford Model TT is likely the most radically different Ford Model T variant ever produced. Its production forever changed the automotive industry – and the very nature of work itself.
In 1948, the first F-Series truck emerged from the Highland Park plant, changing the long-term manufacturing of pick-up trucks. Eight years later, in 1961, a retired Air Force Pilot from St. Louis opened Ziems Ford Corners in Farmington, New Mexico changing Four Corners car buying forever.
60 Years of Truck Months
Since our humble beginnings, when Joe Ziems first founded this dealership, the team at Ziems Ford Corners has proudly celebrated truck month. It’s the time of year when buyers can get the biggest savings, the best financing and the most robust warranties. Whether looking for an F-150, F-250, Super Duty or Ranger, Ziems has the truck you want at a price you’ll like. During truck month, Ford has a whole selection of “Bonus Packages” to choose from, making now the best time to buy that new Ford Truck.
And so it Continues
More than a century after creation, Ford trucks are still among the most iconic vehicles in the world. Today, the F-Series is America’s best-selling truck for its 44th consecutive year and best-selling vehicle for 39 years straight. When an icon gets to a certain age, automakers usually begin to rely on a certain level of nostalgia to help sell them. But the Ford F-Series puts all those cars to shame. In fact, for decades now, it has put everything to shame in the sales department. If you want to own an iconic legend of your own, call us at (888) 375-9581 or stop by Ziems Ford Corners to see why we’ve been the best for the last 60 years.
It’s no secret that from the Four Corners to the ends of the world, Ford trucks have undeniable popularity. In fact, not even a global pandemic could break the incomparable streak of the Ford F-Series. Once again the F-150 reigned supreme and brought home the title of Best Selling Truck in America for the 44th year in a row. At Ziems Ford Corners, we like to think of them as the swiss army knife of the truck world because they have it all. Want top-of-the-line luxury plus modern tech? Check. Are you seeking unmatched off-roading capability? Handled. Do you need an EPA-estimated range of 700 miles on a single tank of gas? Done. Is the versatility of massive cargo something you’re after? The F-150 has it covered. All that plus best in best-in-class towing, payload, torque and horsepower make this the truck that has it all.
The Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 is America’s best-selling vehicle and has been since 1977, the same year the first Apple II computer went on sale, and NASA tested its first space shuttle. Today, the all-new 2021 Ford F-150 is purpose-built from the ground up to be the toughest, most productive model ever. It’s a beast with brains to match. A truck that seamlessly merges premium-grade muscle with finely tuned intelligence and unmatched design. It’s relentlessly tough with a military-grade, aluminum-alloy body and torture-tested high-strength steel frame. This truck includes enough power to light up a house, and enough strength to tow or haul almost anything. With six trim levels plus the dune hopping F-150 Raptor and the city-dwelling F-150 Tremor, there’s a truck for every lifestyle.
Since its earliest days, the F-Series has been the leader of the pack in the truck market. It’s one of the most iconic Ford models ever built only behind the Model T. With reliability and dependability under their hoods, vintage models still work alongside today’s high-tech versions.
Today, there are more F-Series trucks on the road with odometer readings above 250,000 miles than any other brand. This truck is Built Ford Proud, and proud to be American-born and bred. Since its inception in 1948, the F-series has always been a leader and today the F-150 is in its fourteenth generation. That’s the kind of longevity that ultimately inspires some serious brand loyalty. There’s no need for nostalgic self-reflection on the F-150’s part; the F-Series is just as it always was, and as it will always be.
