About Ziems Ford Corners
Get to Know Us, Your New Ford Dealership Serving Farmington
Want to know all about us? For the last 60 years, we have been your Farmington area Ford dealership. Over the years, you’ve probably heard it said that we are the number one New Mexico source for new and used Ford cars, trucks, SUVs. But don’t just take our word for it; Ziems Ford Corners is a ten-time recipient of the prestigious Ford Motor Company President’s Award. An award reserved for dealerships that make excellence a priority.
Ziems Ford Corners was founded in 1961 by Joe Ziems, a retired airforce pilot from St. Louis Missouri. After his military career, Joe started in the car industry as a mechanic at Korber Auto, a Chrysler dealership in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He worked his way through the various positions, making a name for himself at Korber, until he was offered the opportunity for his own dealership. Joe was given the choice between a Chrysler dealership in Gallup or a Ford dealership in Farmington. He chose the Ford dealership and a group of partners and in 1961 Ziems Ford Corners opened on 20th and Main. Joe passed away in 2003. But the dealership remains completely family-owned and operated, run first by his son Paul, now daughter Christine and grandson Mike planning on keeping the tradition alive.
Over the years the town grew around Ziems, and at one time the original location was part of Farmington’s “automotive row.” With a company culture of excellence and integrity, the dealership eventually outgrew its original home. Thus began the dream of a new building and in the late 1990s, Paul Ziems started looking for land to build a new building. The land he found was on the far east side of town with nothing around it. In 1999 what started as a dream came to fruition and we relocated to our new location at 5700 E Main. And, once again the town of Farmington has grown up around us.
A lot has changed over the years, both at Ziems and in Farmington. Highway 550 is no longer a gravel road and the town of Farmington doesn’t end at 20th and Main anymore. But some things have stayed the same. Our commitment to service and to the people of our town. At Ziems, we’re active partners and sponsors of several local school sports teams and charitable organizations. However, the thing we’re most proud of is our employees. We know that every position at the dealership comes with its challenges, but our employees work very hard to make each customer feel special and serve our dealership with the professionalism and integrity that represents Ziems values.
